And the best part is: It worked! A little oil on a cotton round and not only did nearly all the mascara come off, but so did my eyebrow pencil, which has historically been a huge pain to remove; even with my favorite makeup wipe, I always felt like I could never quite get all the product off without scrubbing my eyebrows half to death.
The other day, the notion to repurpose olive oil struck again, so I went looking around on YouTube for my next project. I've been meaning to pick up a new lip scrub ever since the pot I got from LUSH ages ago ran out, so an easy homemade scrub seemed like a perfect next project. Best part: only two ingredients, both of which are staples in my cupboard!
These little beauties are all you need to create your very own all-natural lip scrub. It's inexpensive and super duper easy:
All you'll need is olive oil, brown sugar, a bowl or two, and some measuring spoons.
Oh, and also some sort of container to keep your finished product in. I had these cute, squatty little Mason jars on hand from some goodies my mother-in-law gave to us.
Measure out equal parts olive oil and brown sugar; I ended up using three tablespoons of each because I like to exfoliate my lips every night and I didn't want to be making more again in a week. You could also skip the second bowl and just mix everything in one (I went with two bowls for photo purposes).
Combine.
Stir!
Store! Crazy simple, yes?
I've been using this scrub for a few days now, and I'm so pleased with the results! The brown sugar exfoliates without being too rough, and the olive oil helps to moisturize. I massage this into my lips for a few seconds, then take a warm washcloth and swipe off the scrub. Then I follow up with a good lip balm; I like the Nivea Lip Butter in vanilla and macadamia.
Stay tuned for more adventures in oil; next time, I'm exploring coconut oil!
